What is the situation of paragliding in Turkey?
Pilots started to do paragliding in Turkey in the beginning of 90s. The community of paragliding in Turkey and in the world is the fastest developing sport community among other flying activities. Because of the establishment of Turkish Air Sport Federation, it is assumed that the number of the active pilot population will exceed 5000 in the next two years in Turkey. The number of the pilots is more than 250000 throughout the world; especially it is very high in Western Europe, northern and southern America.
The altitude of Turkey is 1000 meters in average. Because of its altitude and latitude, Turkey is very suitable for long distance flights on the mountains and over the sunny lowlands. There are many competitions and organizations that are made in Turkey.
What is the situation of equipment support?
We serve pilots with paragliding instruments, parachute rope, patch, backup parachute maintenance and folding.
How do you support pilots with the air condition information?
We, Ikarus Aviation, get the air condition data of flight route directly from Turkish meteorology general headship. As a result, flight efficiency is maximized.
How is the hotels of the tour?
We select the best hotels for you, they are all clean, air-conditioned and comfortable.. According to you wish you decide to stay at 3star/4star/5star or any special kind of hotel.. the hotels of the tour are "thermal" in Pamukkale and they are special cave hotels the in Cappadocia. What kind of services will you get during the tour ?
Your services will start from the airport, we will pick you up from the airport, in Istanbul (both from Atatürk Airport, Sabiha Gokcen Airport). You will relax and enjoy the first day of your tour. You will have an "general pragliding flight briefing" and first "welcome" meeting on the morning of your tours second day, then you will have cultural city sightseeing in Istanbul. By all the period of your tour, you will visit ancient cities and museums, you will exprience whirling dervishes ceremony and enjoy Turkish belly dance night show.. All the entrance fees of museums, ancient cities and shows are included. Travelling health insurance and all other taxes are included.
On the days of paragliding, you will have briefings about that days paragliding destination.. Your para-guide and para-med (health officer) staff will accompany you during the paragliding flights. You will have your lunches at the paragliding area. If in any need, all paragliding instruments, parachute rope, patch, backup parachute maintenance and folding are available.
All your transportation will be made by an air-conditioned, comfortable minivan or mini-bus according to the number of pilots who joins the tour. The stars of your hotel will be selected according to your wish, you could decide to stay in a 3star, 4star, 5star hotel or in a special class hotels. Wherever you select, your accomodation will be at air-conditioned, clean, safe and comfortable hotels.
All the important cultural events on the ground and all the paragliding activities in the air will be "HD format" recorded during the tour. We would like the images of your adventurous tour lives as a souvenir.
